RE: Central Count Error Messages

Is Marin using an 18” ballot or does ballot length have any effect on this?

I am running 2.00g firmware.  I guess the "adjusted the timing mark signal filtering" may be working in that I may be getting fewer than I would have prior to the adjustment, however, I'd say I'm getting a 5-7% rate on these or roughly 10 to 15 times per input tray of 150 to 200 ballots.  This seems a bit much to me.

What firmware?  2.00g was supposed to address this specifically:

·       Adjusted the timing mark signal filtering to reduce the number of non-processed ballots.

Ken

We have started counting absentee ballots in Marin.  We are getting a significant number of the following error messages.

NO ENDER MARK - the ballot will usually be taken on the next try

NO BACK LEFT TIMING MARK (0 or 52) - these also run on next try or so.

I've looked at the ballots and find no discernable reason for them to be stopping or giving this message, as they have all appropriate timing marks.

I don't expect there's anything to be done, but it could be looked at prior to next election.
