The R6
unit has a locking card reader that will inhibit the voter from removing the
card. The card reader in the new unit
takes the card in far enough so that the voter can not grab it in order to
remove it. Bottom
line is there will be no animation. RCR

or suggest that some type of animation be provided when voter card is inserted
into Ballot station while system is loading or reading smart card. At a
demonstration the other day, a number of election people inserted the smart
card and immediately removed it or tried to, as though they were swiping a
credit card at the gas pumps. The
window that indicates the card is being read could have some animation for
voters to be amused by while their ballot is being prepared. Maybe
something after casting their ballot as well.
