Re: AccuFeed

When freed from the infeed system, does the backfeed roller spin (i.e. does the backfeed motor turn the backfeed roller)?

I appreciate your patience performing these diagnostics for me.  If you have any questions regarding the above, please contact me by telephone, and I'll explain in further detail.

The AccuFeed would feed eight or ten ballots out a stack of 60 and then misfeed.  The last ballot almost never got through.

I will have to reprogram the Memory Card with no rejections to fill the feed cassette.  The small square separator pad is still in its place on the spring loaded tray.

The large gray infeed rollers feed without hesitation on the metal feed plate when the actuator is lifted.

Greg:

Did the unit misfeed on the last 10 ballots in the cassette, or did it misfeed every 10 ballots no matter the height of the stack in the cassette?

On the cassette, is there a small square pad of gray material in the center of the spring loaded tray or is it missing?

Did you try the torque test that I had instructed you about earlier (the infeed rollers should turn without hesitation on the empty cassette tray surface)?  What were the results of that test?

Subject: AccuFeed

Had an AccuFeed that misfeeds within 10 ballots.  Changed the centre tire on the feed arm.  Still misfeeds.  Tried an old photocopier trick (my background) and ran 720 ballots perfectly.

Solution:
Took a fresh sheet of Bounce and wiped down the aluminum guide plate and both plastic guides.  Ballots whistle through like ... through a goose.  The copier technicians would experience a static charge in the feed cassette and neutralize it with Bounce or similar product as well as providing a slight lubricant.

Better get McKinney's blessing first though.
