Re: VIBS 10key pad

Ian,

My comments were spoken in general terms from conversation and research I had done awhile ago.  The issue at hand is to have a device that is ADA compliant and not a quick fix to the problem.
I certainly did not mean to imply what we were using for the immediate demos was to be our solution.  Our search must continue.

Barry Herron had spoken with the some association dealing with the blind (ask him which one specifically) and they had stated it didn't matter what style of numeric keypad you had, as long as you told the blind voter which one it was.  Is our search for a telephone style keypad a waste of time?

We are aware that it needs to be presented in the phone keypad orientation, but we had to rush to get you a keypad for demonstration.  We can have not been able to find one in the phone orientation at all of the local places, ie Best Buy, CompUSA etc.

The 10 key pad we are looking for is for ADA compliance with a phone keypad with raised bump on 5.  I'm sure you are aware of this.  The unit recieved is a 10 keypad off a computer keyboard, with keys laid out in different config.

The 10-keypad I received on Saturday for our demonstration at the Secretary of State's Technology day arrived.  I tested it this AM.  Each time I place a vibs voter card into the machine and respond to a candidate position - it CANCELs the ballot.  This does not appear to lend itself to a demonstration.  Are there some special instructions I'm missing?  We've got to have a working 10 key pad for this week and next.
