RE: AV Printer Ribbon Shelf Life

Greg:

I can't recommend that as the vendor will not recommend that.  Maybe your tip can be used as a MacGyver survival technique in a desperate situation.

Thanks for the note.

The ink remains, the ink carrier dries up.  Squirt a little WD-40 on the ribbon and it will be as good as new.  Use WD-40 on well used ribbons as well with the same result.
The WD-40 is almost the same as the original ink carrier.

Subject: AV Printer Ribbon Shelf Life

Just a note to all on the shelf life of the printer ribbon for the AV-OS and AV-TS R4 (Blue & White) Units:

The shelf life of the EPSON ERC-09 printer ribbon in an office environment and in its original packaging is 12 months.  This information comes from the vendor that we use for that EPSON printer ribbon.

Kay Shifflett in Rockingham County, Virginia found her printer ribbons had dried, but she had that material sitting on her office shelf for two (2) years.

In case you're concerned about McKinney stock, it doesn't have much time to accumulate a shelf life as what comes in the door usually goes out right away.  Please ensure that your customers are made aware of the 12 month shelf life.
