RE: Windows CE Fonts Installation

Steve,

You probably can tailor the Fonts folder to be election specific.
The following is a partial list of some of the available fonts:

Language                        Fixed font                    Variable font

Traditional Chinese           MingLui                        MingLui
Simplified Chinese            MS Song                     MS Hei
Japanese                        MS Gothic                    MS Gothic
____________________________________________________

MS Mincho is another Japanese Font    (spacing characteristic unknown)
Gulim Che    is the Korean   Font          (spacing characteristic unknown)

_____________________________________________________

Warning:
The current LA Data base Japanese font is MS Mincho, however
deleting MS Gothic, a  presumably unused font, caused the Japanese font to be incorrectly displayed on the R6, using  BS 4-1-1-7.

Concern:
I am still concerned  that the Korean font may not be displayed correctly, in all cases.
MS Song font, a Simplified Chinese font, is currently being used in the LA database instead of Gulim Che the Korean font.

There are 16 font files totaling about 28.9Mb here.  If you are doing only Chinese, it would make sense to include only the Chinese files, or with VIBS are we simply going to always use 128Mb cards?

Jeff,
Do the CE fonts contain all required fonts?  In other words did you have to add the Japanese seperately, or was there some other issue with the Japanese?

The windows CE fonts for the R6 are available on the ftp site under util, be careful to download the correct zip file, there are multiple font files, get the CE font file.

In order to support multiple languages, on the R6, these WindowCeFonts must be placed on the flash card along with the CurrentElection folder.
They are to be in a folder named "Fonts" in the root directory of the flash disk card.
Unlike the CurrentElection folder the Fonts folder must be placed manually on each flash disk..
Copy and paste or create a script to do it for you.
