RE: Use of Spyrus for Early voting with one ballot and 12 precincts

Two solutions to the situation and thanks for the response.

  1. If I program only the first poll into the Spyrus, the Ballot Station will show the label for that precinct, but it will work.  It does infer though that the advance poll results will all load into the first poll.
  2. Under Cumulative Reportunits –> Advance Poll TS, delete all the base precincts except one and rename that one “Advance Poll”.  This will show only one entry in the Create Voter Cards screen called Advance Poll.   “This solution provided by the one and only Tari Runyan”.

The City is using this election as a test.  They plan to purchase 75 AVOS and would like to use the AVTS for both Advance Poll and Audio Ballot.  The city will decide how many AVTS to acquire based on public acceptance.  The voters will be given a choice of either paper or plastic.

This is an edge-case of Mark Early’s question from last month.  Long story short, just program the first one of 12 onto the Spyrus, and give everyone that card.  You will get the “right results”.  Try it out.

For my curiosity:  Why on earth would you run both paper and plastic for early voting?

GEMS-1-18-11       BS-4-3-9

I have a special election in Windsor, Ontario September 9 with 12 polls, (precincts) and one race.  City will use both AVOS and AVTS for the Advance Poll (Early Voting).  I have set GEMS to ballot sequence and cumulative results only to produce a single ballot.  I would like to use the Spyrus.

The problem is the Ballot Station “Create Voter Cards” screen lists all 12 polls as choices instead of one just one, the advance poll.  The requirement is cumulative results only.

The situation requires one choice, “Advance Poll Ballot” to be programmed into the Spyrus.

I have many of our existing customers planning to use the AVTS for their Advance Poll and will be watching the Windsor election with interest.

Thank you,
