As the
requested change below has been dropped off the "to-do" list, another method for
determining the version number of the install files, prior to installation, is
to view the creation date of the file on the flash memory card and compare it to
the list below. (Unless you trust that someone has labeled the flash
card correctly.) The file creation date is viewable by inserting the flash
memory card into the PCMCIA slot on a laptop and running Windows Explorer to
list the flash card root directory.
For
the fboot.nb0 file and the nk.bin file, I've created a list of the file creation
dates, and their versions. Someone with the BallotStation install file
archives can create a list of BS versions if they want to
bother.

Could the BallotStation.ins, fboot.nbo, and nk.bin have the respective
version number of the file written into a "Properties" info field?Currently,
different versions of the file give no indication as to thefile's version number
unless you install it on an R6 unit and run theprogram. I'd like to know the
version of the file before installation. Ifyou right click on the file and
select the "properties" item, perhaps thefile version number could be stored
somewhere in the "summary" or "general"sections.Ian

I don't believe this is technically possible.
