A lot of people ask questions like "Is FreeBSD better than Linux?" or "Which BSD is best?" or "Why does everyone say Windows suck so much?". There are several pages on the web which have made comparisons to different Operating Systems, and I've made a list of the ones that I know here.
If you're reading this via Howstuffworks.com, I'd just like to say what a bunch of whoreburgers they are for serving up other people's content as though it were theirs. This page is way out of date anyway, it's only here to stop linkrot. Fuckers.
Look. Let me just clarify that previous paragraph. Apparently some people don't quite understand.
The URL (that's a web site address, folks) for this page (that's the one below, with the links and stuff, starting with "multiple comparisons") is:
http://instinct.org/~pgl/os-comparison-links.html
Howstuffworks.com have a section on Operating Systems, and in that section they have a link to "Operating System Comparison Links", which is a page I wrote about three years ago and haven't updated for at least two years, and is also the page you're looking at right now! Did you come here from Howstuffworks.com? Do you have a yellow frame at the top of your browser window with "Marshall Brain's HowStuffWorks" on the left? That's what I'm talking about. OK? It just really pisses me off that some fuckers decided to present stuff that other people have written as part of their own site that they're making money off, and not only fail to ask permission, but don't even let the author know!
I'm probably overreacting or something. I mean, like I said a couple of times already, it's an ancient page with loads of broken links that's not going to be updated, so I suppose it doesn't really matter. Still annoying though. Oh well.
9th Feb 2002 - Hey, howstuffworks arseholes. Read this.
Oh. I just checked, seems they've taken off their link to this page. Good. They're still doing it with other pages though: http://www.howstuffworks.com/operating-system8.htm.

If you know of any that I haven't listed, I'd be grateful if you could mail me and let me know. Thanks.

I have a a local copy of the 386bsd faq (dated 26 Jun 1997, the most recent version I could find) which discusses NetBSD, FreeBSD, and OpenBSD.
