Note: I no longer maintain the FreeBSD port of pisg. This has been kindly taken over by Michael L. Hostbaek.

pisg is a Perl Irc Statistics Generator. it's great. someone put together a debian package, which gave me the idea of making a freebsd port. so I did.

  • pisg.tar.gz (for version 0.36)

it's My First Port, but I think it all works ok. I've submitted it to the freebsd ports people, and hopefully it'll end up in the main freebsd ports tree. it might not though, and I don't think they're going to get back to me.

Mon Feb 11 14:34:08 CET 2002: I think I must have gashed it up when I tried to submit the port, because I just tried again and got an autoreply saying where I can find out about the status of my port. unfortunately, of course, I didn't fill out the problem report correctly, but hey we all make mistakes sometimes. I hope they're not too strict about stuff like that.

Tue Jan 29 15:49:52 CET 2002: pisg just got updated, and I realised what a pain it is to upgrade a freebsd port. so I wrote a little shell script to automate it for me. it uses a set of skeleton files that it modifies slightly to create a new port.

since I didn't want to subscribe to yet another mailing list to get pisg announcements, I also wrote a little perl script to check if pisg has been updated or not. it's crap, but I'll put a copy here anyway:

Wed Apr 3 11:53:42 CEST 2002: wahey! the port has made it into the official ports tree!
