center titles on the reports.  Now available through the order desk
in McKinney.

RELEASE NOTES
Accu-Vote 2000 - Release 1.95d
Revised March 15, 1999

Purpose

To meet requirements of the state of Minnesota which include reporting candidates in the order that they appear on the ballot (the rotated order) and printing the voting center and precinct names on the results tapes.  This latest 1.95 release also incorporates the fixes made to the the 1.94 releases.

Compatibility

The 1.95d release of the Accu-Vote firmware is based on the 1.95c release. The precinct count upload protocol remains compatible with all 1.9x VTS versions. The precinct count download protocol and the memory cards are NOT compatible with 1.94 or previous 1.95 releases and require a recent release of GEMS and 1.95 Accu-Basic (abo) files.

Precinct Counter (PC) Release

• Up to 48 characters (2 lines) of the voting center name is now downloaded along with the poll center ID.  It can be accessed in Accu-Basic reports as VOTECTR.NAME as is done in the latest 195anoka.abo.
• When printing candidates in ballot order (%USEBALLOTORDER set to 1 in Accu-Basic), the Accu-Vote no longer sorts candidates according to their position on the ballot so that the order may be set by GEMS.  This fixes problems with candidate order for multi-column races and landscape ballots.

• In ballot reject messages that display the race number, now also display a contracted race title of the form "123:A RAC..TITLE" to aid in identifying the race with the voting problem. (1.94w)
• Print the TEST ZERO REPORT in pre-election mode (except for the one printed as part of the download procedure) instead of the ZERO TOTAL REPORT. (1.94w)
• Handle aborting downloads while REQUESTING COMMUNICATION.  Previously we weren't displaying any message until the NO button had been pressed twice and repeated aborts would give a port error. (1.94w)
• Fix the problem causing the Accu-Vote to fail to detect unvoted ballots.  This problem meant that unvoted ballots would not be returned even if the Accu-Vote was programmed to do so. (1.94v)
• Fix the problem whereby some units would occasionally reject a ballot and then lock up with the motor running in reverse. (1.94u)
• Fix problem whereby a ballot with a race having only write-in candidates would report "TCAND OVERFLOW". (1.94u)
• For single ballot primary ballots (primary election ballots with races from different parties), if the ballot is cross voted (i.e. races for different parties are voted), the Accu-Vote will no longer check for blank voted partisan races. (1.94u)
• If every race on a ballot is overvoted, the Accu-Vote will no longer reject the ballot as being unmarked. ((1.94u)
• Memory cards will no longer be marked as corrupted.  The memory card's data is checked on insertion and before each ballot is scanned and once a problem is detected, functionality will be restricted until the data again checks out correctly.  Since most reports of memory card corruption are due to poor connection (dirty contacts or foreign material blocking the contacts), the memory cards were being incorrectly marked as corrupt. • If an upload is interrupted before a connection is established, the Accu-Vote will no longer report that the upload was successful. (1.94u)
