This is basically impossible,
unfortunately. Classic modems like
the USR Sportster and the pocket modems in the AVOS
have built in speakers that are more-or-less hardwired to the line, so you can hear
the dial tone. PCMCIA modems do not
have speakers. (If someone knows of
a counterexample, I would be pleasantly surprised). Ken -----Original Message----- Audio would be a definite benifit when using the R6
for modem transmission. Hearing a dial tone, listening for the dialling
process is very useful when trying to upload by modem
